is 4.1.7.1 just addressing Photo Albums?
Or does this include the other changes as well, Facebook/Twitter, mySql,
Youtube?

I already filed a bug report on the FB/Twitter login where you can still login via Facebook even when you're not logged in to Facebook. I hope that gets addressed as well.

I think that is OK to write where is a problem in this plugin. There is a many of us who make some modifications on plugin, and after upgrading we must integrate our modifications again. Plesae, reconsider that. Thanks.

SE Staff,

In your Photo Albums Plugin description it states:

"Automatic image resizing and thumbnails

Photos uploaded by your members are elegantly resized to the dimensions you specify. You also have complete control over how and where they are displayed."

I don't think the option for me to specify the maximum dimensions of uploaded photos exists, as it is claimed. If I am mistaken please tell me where or how I can go about changing the dimensions from the default setting of 720×720.

Also images are still uploading at a reduced quality then the original ones. I can't run a social media site, when the social media is lacking in quality. Please advise. This plugin is actually worse than the one from SE3. I would like answers.

Dave

@Dave You can change this by editing our GD library code. Please open up ./application/libraries/Engine/Image/Adapter/Gd.php and go to line 128:
$quality = null;
if( is_int($this->_quality) && $this->_quality >= 0 && $this->_quality <= 100 ) {
$quality = $this->_quality;
}
Just change this to:
$quality = 100;
An images are now taking forever to upload… and when they are about to finish up, they all give a "Time Out" Error… Please Advise…

19. Posted August 17, 2011 at 9:30 am | Permalink

@Cyiza Check the memory limit for php scripts on your hosting. Maybe you are trying to upload very big images. Ans system don't have enough memory to process them.

20. Posted August 17, 2011 at 11:12 am | Permalink

I think we need a setting in admin section to specify the image dimensions or size.

@Venkat Thanks for the suggestion re: image size. I have added this to our list of feature requests.

22. Mara
Posted August 17, 2011 at 8:24 pm | Permalink

@Jay The category_id column already exists in the engine4_album_albums table. There may have been an error during the upgrade causing the version number not get incremented. You will need to increment the version number manually in the engine4_core_modules table. If you would like assistance with this, one of our technicians can help you via a support ticket.

On your photo albums, is there a way to have a "tagged" album on a users profile for any photos that they have been tagged in?

24. Martin

@Chris & Deepak – Share working fine for me.

25. Mara

@Tracy That is not currently a feature. Users can be tagged in photos, but there is not a specific "tagged" album. You could customise the code to add this feature.

@Mara RE: image size

This is what I don't understand though. You were able to do this in SE3. The Photo Albums product description states that you can do this with SE4. I understand that its not part of the admin panel. Fine. So how do we go about changing the dimensions?

PS. Thanks for the earlier suggestion concerning the quality of the images. It seems to be a fix, as far as i can tell. Its still not 100% but I can live with it for now.

28. Glenn Norvic
Posted August 18, 2011 at 5:10 pm | Permalink

@Tracy – there may not be a "tagged" album, but there is a "tagged" widget that you can add in the layout editor. It features all the photos you've been tagged in.

29. Mara
Posted August 18, 2011 at 9:27 pm | Permalink

@Dave You can find this file under application/modules/libraries/Engine/Image.php line 32

protected $_quality = 100; (you can change this from 1 – 100)

As or the size issue you will need to find the location in the source code.

@mara i would also like to have the photos sizes changed from the default to say 800 x 600 but really dont know where to fine the correct code

32. Jeff
Posted August 19, 2011 at 9:17 pm | Permalink

So before you buy SE, you read this:
"Photos uploaded by your members are elegantly resized to the dimensions you specify."

After you buy, you get this:
"for the size issue you will need to find the location in the source code"

I don't mind if the product doesn't do something. Just don't say that it does if I have to dig into code to make it work!

Mara: Is this a mistake or is this how you guys think it should work?

We are having problems not being able to upload photos since this update. We have already applied the patch for the profile picture issue that we were experiencing.

The issue not being able to upload presents itself in a HTML 500 error the same as larryg.

Please fix ASAP.

what about an answer to Glen Norvic's Problem please???

The new photo album thing's not working really well. As he stated very clearly in his post, but no one seems to want to answer, newly created photo albums cannot be viewed sequentially using the "Next" and "Previous" buttons… You have to click your browser back to the album's basic level and select the next photo to view using the thumbnails, which is stupid. It seems that every single photo get's indexed as photo # 1, or perhaps no index is created for the uploaded photos, so you cant' advance.

@Jim You should be able to fix this issue using the following MySQL query:

UPDATE engine4_album_photos SET `order`=photo_id WHERE `order`=0

57. Posted September 18, 2011 at 1:42 am | Permalink

Matt the fix is working but it's not a permanent fix. Like I said, after running that query newly created albums will have that navigation problem again.

It's gonna be a waste of time to go back to phpMyadmin to run that query over and over again whenever a new album is created.

58. Nick
Posted September 18, 2011 at 9:02 pm | Permalink

The purported fix: "UPDATE engine4_album_photos SET `order`=photo_id WHERE `order`=0" for the bug relating to newly created photo albums not being viewed sequentially using the "Next" and "Previous" buttons does not fix the underlying cause of the bug. This is because you will have to run the query whenever a new album is created.
