Did you now fix where people can create new paragraphs on their profile page under "about me"?

This release comes at a very good time! We're moving over our site to a newer and more reliable server. We were using Arvixe, but Im sure there are other choices (any suggestions?)

Also I would like to know more about the new CDN feature (Im sure tutorial is coming? :) )

I do suggest that anyone who has tons of customizations and special plugins like us not only create a backup, but have the migration professionally installed. Trust me, it's worth every penny!

Thanks SE – You guys keep up the good work.

Hey guys great features! I am glad you are finally rolling out these new features. I am looking forward to seeing you guys expand the facebook and twitter integration and their associated options. I am also anticipating better inviting systems and mass email options to invite however many people we want to our social network from within the admin section instead of limited to set amounts, due to having a large list of csv and such, would also like to see csv uploading and invitation features for that as well =]

Just a few suggestions from your biggest fan! Thanks for all your hard work and the constant updates, you guys are doing a great job at keeping it fresh and feature rich. Thank you x1million

In addition to my previous mail: I fixed the signup screen by using the data from on of my other installations (4.17 user/account.php).

There seems to be a bug in the groups however.

    When the groups are visited the following message is given;

Did as instructed with no problem right up to “Finalize Installation” and then back to the “Manage Packages” screen. However, when I tried to go to the site home page or admin page, got this dreaded error:

We're sorry! We are currently experiencing some technical issues. Please try again later. Error code: df6c05

I tried 5 times and all failed. Can't even get to see the error codes. Do I need to disable all SE and third party’s plugins first before upgrading?

On my last few tries to upgrade I keep running into a timeout caused by the fact the upgrade routine is trying to check the permissions on ALL the files on the site and it hangs because there are several gigs of user files it has to go through.

I was told you all were going to fix that so it wouldn't check the user file folders. Can you tell me if that has been done on this version? Thank you!

If you have plugins from SE Apps Market installed, you will get the:
"We're sorry! We are currently experiencing some technical issues. Please try again later." with error code.

Disabling the "mseplugins" from SE Apps Market will get your site back up.

Social engine sites that have over 100+ custom pages created through the layout editor are having trouble finding certain pages as the drop down list isnt arranged in a specific order. Will you be adding something to help those users like arranging the drop down list alphabetically?

Did your company even coordinate with all its developers about changes to be made on SE4.1.8? Many of the scripts we installed are not working and are given similar errors. Here are some of them:
exception 'Engine_Exception' with message 'Method "api" not supported' in /home/kylti12/public_html/application/modules/Core/Api/Abstract.php:41
exception 'Zend_Controller_Router_Exception' with message 'Route core_home is not defined' in /home/kylti12/public_html/application/libraries/Zend/Controller/Router/Rewrite.php:310

Oh my gosh, every file gives me a server error. I've spent over $4,000 on this site with plugins and developers, finally get it live and nothing works. Social Engine, why not charge us a monthly fee and give us support? Relying on outside developers is very frustrating and expensive, and seems to make things worse a lot of the time, they fix one thing and mess up something else, costing more money.

My current issue is a server error with every large photo upload, I thought if I go to the new version this might be fixed, instead a bunch more server errors.

I just spend a lot of money moving to a dedicated server AND doing a fresh install losing all my members so the site would run better, but it doesn't. Same issues, same headache.

For speed and performance, please refer to this article: http://www.socialengine.net/support/article?q=200&question=SocialEngine-Performance-and-Speed-Enhancement-Tips

@Mohamed Your Facebook library is out of date. application/libraries/facebook files need to be overwritten with latest files in 4.1.8

@Fer Yes, you are able to upgrade from 4.1.6 to 4.1.8

@Chris 4.1.8 may be available on the demo site sometime next week.

@Tayyab Please contact us with more information about this privacy bug: http://www.socialengine.net/contact

@Katherine Developers have the opportunity to update their plugins before release. We're not responsible for how third-party developers operate or provide support for the products they create. Please contact us for support with photo uploads.

@Marcel This is due to plugin compatibility. Please add: public function api() { return Engine_Api::_(); } to application/modules/[PLUGIN]/Api/Core.php

@Jonathan This is issue will be fixed from 4.1.8 on, so you should notice the fix during your next upgrade. Unfortunately, the fix does not apply to 4.1.7 to 4.1.8

    @Chris Yes, in the temporary/log/main.log

@John Add the iframe html tag to the member level settings of the forum plugin.

@Nicholas We do not use foreign key constraints, so this is likely caused by a third-party.

@Tony Please contact the third-party developer of flash chat for support.

@Ruben Please make sure your group plugin is upgraded to 4.1.8

Can you please try to be consistent in the size of thumbnails in the plugin widgets? For example, the thumbnails in the video and album widgets are large. They used to be small but you have made them large. The thumbnails in the Group, Events and music widgets are small i.e. the original size. Then, the forum widgets do not have thumbnails at all. They used to have one but you have removed them. Now, what we are left with is inconsistence of thumbnails in the plugin widgets. This makes the site to look inconsistent.

MAXCDN is working fine except, their is some path which is missing, not pulled in maxcdn zone, by which Uploads via Photo Albums in every plugin such as group are also not working. Firefox7 displays the popup, required file was not found. When disabled CDN, Photo Uploads work fine. Rest seems fine for MAXCDN. I appreciate a quick fix for it. Rest Photo uploads via wall in all plugins are fine.

    Thank You

Hello. When I copying and adding temporary URL of maxCDN to SE 4.1.8 for integration my website is collapsing (layout chaning the look) and when I deleating URL everything goes back to normal but maxCDN does not work. Any idea why its happening?

@ Halal. I agree with you 110%, with every update things seem to become more messy. Lets get SE looking and running SHARP!

I'm finding major issues when working with Chrome (firefox is working fine). I think it is some sort of java compliance bug.

For example I have a problem with uploading photos (albums/status), where the "upload your file" link is not active.

Other bugs is where the activity page does not show for some specific members, that other members are having issues with.

Lastly, when is there going to be a "NEW" or "unread" tag in the forums! It is a nightmare for users to try to figure out which forum threads they have read and which are new.

  45. Randy
    Posted November 8, 2011 at 7:33 pm | Permalink

I see that posts in the activity feed (in 4.1.8p1 anyway) can now be broken into paragraphs, which is a big step in the right direction!

But it would be nice (and clear and logical) if the postings would read (after having been posted) exactly in the form that they were written.

As things are now, one tap on the "enter" key brings the cursor down one line. But the writing on this line will appear two lines down after the text is posted (in a new paragraph, in other words).

Two taps on the cursor, in an intuitive attempt to form a new paragraph, will separate the paragraphs by three blank lines (or four entries, per this paragraph and the following…):

    See? A leap too far!

In Facebook postings, what you see is what you get. Far be it from me to praise Facebook, but in this instance they've gotten it right! (And I'm no programmer, but how hard can it be for somebody who knows what he/she is doing to make this excellent move?)
