SocialEngine Blog

SocialEngine is the best way to create a unique community website. Let your friends, fans or customers geek out about anything you want.

Attention theme designers! Download the SE Cloud theme kit

One of the really neato things about SE Cloud is the theme manager. Beyond editing your theme in your browser, you can also upload and download themes. This means you can build a custom theme and share it with (or sell it to) other SE Cloud customers. The SE Cloud network is growing very quickly, so if you’re a professional designer, this is an opportunity to create your own commercial themes for a sizable audience.

Jung, one of our SE Cloud engineers, put together this great kit for building custom themes. It’s a basic starter theme that includes instructions that will help you make your own customizations. Also, be sure to check out the Widget Documentation we recently released, which will help you add and customize content widgets in your theme’s HTML templates.

Download the theme kit here.

We don’t have a third-party theme listing for SE Cloud yet (like we do for SE PHP) but that’s coming soon. In the meantime, if you email us at SocialEngine with your own creations, we’ll potentially add them to a best-of roundup here on this blog in the next few weeks. If you make something snazzy, it could be a great way to get some exposure for your work.

Happy theming!

If ya want to clone Pinterest, just buy it here ( instead of waiting another f’king FOUR YEARS for Webligo to get their act together. Remember me Alex, the guy who wanted to stop in and say hi four years ago when he thought he found an opportunity to get out of truck driving and start a company? One marriage and my family’s retirement later, your company’s lack of management skills has done a lot of financial and emotional damage to 10’s of thousand of family’s in the state of Florida … You and Charlotte keep doing what your doing with the foreigners and your kids crowd and you will FAIL with SE Cloud as well.

Great! But where is the SE Cloud subscription plan for developers Alex ? This is useless for the developers without having access to the SE Cloud and its useless for the current Cloud customers cuz they’re not developers or designers !

I hate this. I had posted an idea for social engine 4 to remove the like button and instead add a plus or minus function. Social Engine replied: we wont want to do that because we don’t want people to get negative input.. guess what: version 5 has it… i complained months ago that every time I update social engine 4 that i have to reprogram my altered php scripts and if it is possible to leave the altered scripts in it. Guess what: social engine 5 has it. A lot if ideas i posted for social engine 4 way back ago is now used for version 5. I really hate you guys for lying to me. I’m learning drupal now and it has MORE possibilities then social engine and it’s free and open source. Every single dollar wasn’t worth the program. You failed listening to the public and sticking ny the plan extending social engine 4 but instead we only get bugs fixed and speed upgrades. Thank you for the big disappointment.

Hi if you’re a developer thinking of developing a theme please remember that SE CLOUD site owners can’t have paid members/billing. We signed up as a new SE CLOUD customer and then discovered that paid subscription/ member billing is not possible. Also SE PHP doesn’t have the board theme. If anyone can think of a work around to this problem we’d like to know!
